Grab Holdings (GRAB) edged higher after unveiling Southeast Asia's first public robotaxi service in Singapore's Punggol district. The pilot program, developed with Chinese autonomous driving firm WeRide, operates 11 vehicles along two approved routes, having already logged 30,000 km and served 1,000+ passengers during testing.

The partnership includes a planned equity investment from Grab, positioning the ride-hailing giant at the forefront of autonomous mobility adoption in ASEAN. Singapore's controlled urban environment serves as an ideal testing ground, though regulatory hurdles and competition may slow regional expansion.

This milestone underscores Grab's strategic pivot toward automation to improve long-term profitability. The service connects commuters to transport hubs—a tangible step toward scaling driverless mobility solutions across Southeast Asia's congested megacities.
